Goals for February

Published by Sarah at 4:48 pm under Personal Edit This

A new month and another new start - a chance to put any failures in January behind us all, to wipe the slate clean and to revisit all those goals set last month.

My goals for January were to lose 5-7lbs, to go to the gym at least three times per week and to do some exercise every day. I was also going to eat five portions of fruit and veg every day and make healthy food choices.

January was a bit of a mixed month. I certainly didn’t make it to the gym or get out to exercise as much as I had hoped, although towards the end of the month I was doing a lot more walking than I had done in a long time.

I began to make healthier food choices, swapping high-calorie, high-fat or high-sugar treats and meals for those that are better for me. I also started to cook more meals from scratch, which was a very satisfying experience. I haven’t been eating five portions of fruit and veg per day, though.

My weight-loss, though, has hit the goal I set for myself. By last Monday, I had hit the 5lb mark. Not a huge weight-loss, but enough to start being noticeable in the way my clothes fit me and how I feel about my appearance.

The idea had been to buy a new pair of jeans if I hit that weight-loss target - but as readers of this blog will know, I  had a bit of a desperate situation mid-month and had to buy new ones regardless. Well, as I start a new job on Monday, I treated myself to a selection of nice smart new work outfits and some lovely “weekend”clothes, too.

So, it’s now time to set goals for February:

  • lose another 5-7lbs;
  • continue to increase the amount of fruit and veg I eat;
  • continue to make healthy food choices;
  • increase the amount of water I drink; and
  • increase the amount of exercise I get to burn an extra 500 calories per day.

I think they’re some pretty good goals to be getting on with for the next month, which should reap some positive benefits for my overall health and in terms of weight-loss.

Now would be a good time to sit down, reassess the goals you made for January or even your New Year’s Resolutions to see how you’ve progressed with them. If there are things you’d like to change, then do it now. There’s no time like the present.
